Always, always is the answer to the question, “when do I give thanks to God?” I live my life giving thanks to God. I get up thanking God for the day and for what we will discover. When I feel a sad or a negative thought come into my mind, I thank God for redirecting me. I thank God for helping me find misplaced items. When I see something good in the world, community or at an event, I give thanks to God. When something makes me smile, I quickly thank God for that moment. When I see someone with a servant heart, I thank God. When I see someone in need, I thank God for letting me know how I can help. When I am struggling with something, I thank God for helping me see the good in the situation. When I am angry, I thank God for giving me another perspective on the issue. When I am happy I just plain thank God!
At this stage, you might be thinking, “is this woman nuts?” The point I am making is that I give thanks continuously throughout my day for both significant and insignificant things. I thank God for reminding me of things, for allowing me time to be with the kids, for giving me a great dinner idea, for blessing the kids regarding their schooling, sports, and choice of friends. I am also grateful when God leads me down my intended path.
You might be thinking, “I don’t have time for that”, or “how do you remember to thank God every second of the day?” My answer is that it becomes a habit to give thanks to God. My mind automatically directs itself to be grateful to God. Like anything, at first one has to make a point of taking moments to give thanks to God. Each day you find yourself automatically thanking God more than the previous day. At some point giving thanks to God becomes a natural and a positive habit.
