I had the opportunity to hear Dr. Issam Nemeh speak on True Faith this past weekend. He encourages living our faith daily. Not turning on and off our faith when it works best for us, but choosing to live by faith.
Living by faith takes commitment. When things are going well, I remind myself to thank Jesus. As things change direction and become difficult I thank Jesus for carrying me through the tough times. I continue to thank Jesus for the strength to believe and experience true faith.
Dr. Nemeh spoke on having the right state of mind and having true faith. Encouraging an ongoing mindset that is based on unwavering faith. No room for faith when convenient, but true steadfast faith.
Listening to Dr. Nemeh speak is always enlightening. What caught my attention and drove me to write on true faith this week was this quote, “The intention is to be perfect, the rest is grace from God.” Dr. Nemeh went on to say that the goal is to be working on being more perfect. Knowing that we are sinners, but always striving to be perfect and to stick to our faith.
Having true faith does not mean God will answer my prayers in the manner I hope or on my timeline. It means that I am giving up control and living to serve God. I am willing to adapt my dreams and goals to the path I am intended to follow. I pray, listen, and pay attention to signs as to how to proceed.
I make plenty of mistakes, maybe that is why I am drawn to the above quote regarding intentions and grace from God. Prayer and faith bring me back to my intended path. I listen carefully to signs around me and rely on my true faith.
True faith and surrendering to God provide the opportunity for peace. I am intentional about prayer and living by faith and continually strive to live for something greater.
