Commitment. Blog #151.

I tend to enjoy being around people who understand commitment.  People who have priorities, trust and follow through with what is important to them.  Although our priorities may differ, I appreciate someone who is committed to what they believe to be important.  For example, I respect those who are committed to the environment, education, research, service, etc.

When we understand our priorities, we are able to better manage our lives.  Although my main priorities (my faith, family, and career) do not change as I walk through life, things within those categories often ebb and flow with the season I am experiencing.  My family is one of my priorities, but everything within that category shifts depending on what life brings.  My commitment to my family does not waiver, my priorities within my family are ever-changing.

My faith is my first commitment and priority.  Am I able to commit without wavering?  Am I able to stand strong in faith even when things are not going my way?  Will I trust and follow through in faith in times of darkness?

That is the test, the test for all of us.  Are we able to follow through with our commitments?  My first commitment is my faith.  I trust, follow through, and pray for the strength to hold strong to my commitment.  I choose to trust Jesus and follow through in faith.

How do I hold on when things look bleak?  I pray, trust, and look for that inner peace.  That confirmation from above that I am moving in the right direction.

When I am uneasy, hesitant, and have that unsettled feeling in my stomach I know that something is not right.  I know that I need to take a step back and reevaluate.  I ask myself, Does the commitment go against my priorities?  I don’t question my faith (my priority), I pray for direction and trust that I will be shown the path.

I trust that if I am feeling that inner peace I am walking my intended path.  I continue to follow through with my commitment to my faith.

I often double-check to confirm that my actions are in line with my commitments.  As we approach the end of 2020, ask yourself if you are staying true to your commitments.  What are your priorities?  Do you trust your priorities?  Are you following through with what you believe?

I have always believed that through the darkness there is hope, hope because I trust in Jesus. Commit, trust, and follow through, I see 2020 as a time of hope, restructuring, unity, and love.
