My Purpose Please. Blog #339.

Each of us has a purpose in life.  It is unlikely that we will leave this earth before our purpose is fulfilled.  The difficult part is we don’t usually know our purpose.  As we walk our intended path, it becomes clearer, but it is often not disclosed.

As I become more prayerful my path becomes more clear.  That doesn’t mean I understand my purpose or have a clear direction regarding God’s plan for me.  But I am able to better move forward as I wait for the plan to be unveiled.  When I surrender control to Jesus I am at peace as I move through life.

Giving complete control to Jesus allows me to function without worry.  I have no reason to be stressed because I am following the path Jesus presents to me.  The journey is no longer mine to direct, it is for me to follow the path that Jesus presents.

Some doors get closed and for that I am grateful.  I know that is not the path for me so I look for the next opportunity.  Again continuing down that path until I am diverted in another direction or my sense of peace is gone.

There have been times that I have been relieved to start a new path and times when I shook my head in disbelief.  No matter my thoughts regarding the decision I always follow the path that leads to peace.

I spent 9 years preparing for one goal.  At the end of the 9 years, I ended up accepting something much different.  I built that career and was redirected to another industry.  Then left an incredibly exciting and lucrative position to raise my kids.  Spent about 5 years working part-time in the field I originally desired.  That chapter closed and another opened.  The next 5 years while I was an assistant the need arose for me to begin a journey as a caregiver.

When I find my thoughts shifting direction I take small steps toward the opportunity.  Through prayer, I ask Jesus to guide me and help me find something positive about the opportunity.  I let him know that I am here to serve and will follow the path that is presented.

Yes, my purpose is to serve Jesus and that stays constant.  However, I am rarely aware of my specific purpose as I move through the opportunities that present themselves.  When I am at peace with my journey, I know that I am walking my intended path.

When serving Jesus is my purpose I am able to walk through life free from stress and worry.  I surrender to Jesus.  Follow the path that presents itself for as long as I am at peace.  Continually staying prayerful and open to new opportunities.

Our specific purpose will be unveiled when Jesus desires.  Until then serving Jesus will be my purpose, please.
