Fear of the Unknown. Blog #379.

When I consider that our pets completely rely on us, it makes sense that they might have a fear of the unknown. They sense clues that something is different, but have no knowledge of what or for how long.

Over the last three years, our dog has been a bit spoiled by the fact that someone, mostly me, has been in the house 24/7.  Our dog saw my suitcase and started to get a bit clingy, knowing something was up.  One of my neighbors takes great care of her when I am away, but it has been numerous years since our dog has spent several hours alone.

Upon my return, our sweet dog was overcome with joy and hope that her routine would soon be back to normal.  How do I know?  Her reaction was like no other that I have seen from her before.  Having no way to communicate my plans to her, she is forced to deal with the unknown.

I wonder if this is a similar feeling to when we’re not sure of what we believe.  Wanting to believe that there is something greater directing our path.  But reluctant to surrender to the unknown and uncertainty of what that path might look like.  Am I willing to give up what I want?  Will I like the path I am intended to follow?

Stepping out with true faith is what works for me.  Believing without a doubt that something greater is there to guide me, catch me, and encourage me to take the right path, my chosen path.

I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I believe without doubt that Jesus has a plan for me.  I trust his plan and live in the moment, ready to change course as opportunity presents itself.  I center myself in prayer and Jesus, leaving no room for fear of the unknown.

I trust in You Jesus! Make it obvious to me what I should and should not do. I need You every minute of every day!
