As the year comes to an end and a new year begins, I take a rare and quick look back at my choices for the last 12 months and a brief glimpse into what I might choose in the coming year. Knowing there is a path for me, realizing it is my will to follow, or not.
I will be gently nudged and at times pushed so long as I am listening for the signs. When the noise is distracting me, I move to prayer to regain my peace and center myself on Jesus.
Who has control? If I hear myself talking using the word “I”, it is pretty clear who is leading my life. That would be me. I choose to disconnect from what I want and move to what I believe is my intended path. So long as I am at peace, I move forward knowing that doors will close and new ones will open when it is time for a change in my path.
It is great to know Jesus, attend church, and be a Christian, but Jesus wants more from us. Ultimately, it is love that Jesus can’t resist. When our intentions are to live with love, we move closer to Jesus. He wants our love put to action in our everyday lives.
When we treat our neighbors with the same love that we would treat our friends, family, and those closest to us, that is love in action. Putting others’ needs before our own is love in action. When we achieve this, inner peace is plentiful.
The only ones who know if you are making the right choices are you and Jesus. No one else has the necessary information to make a judgment. We might think we know, but we don’t have all the information.
Faith is wonderful, but it is not necessary; it is beautiful. Love is necessary. It is essential, unconditional, and irresistible to Jesus.
What will I choose? I choose love.
