How can attitude and effort contribute to a bright end to 2020 and a start to 2021? Despite all the challenges from COVID-19 we can choose a mindset of hope.
I recently read a book about attitude and effort. Attitude, having the right mindset and effort, making sure one utilizes all their talent in completing the task. The question is, am I really putting forth my best attitude and effort in all that I do? Am I playing my best “game” every day?
We already know that the remaining weeks of 2020 and 2021 are going to provide obstacles and present challenges. We have experience from last winter/spring to navigate some of the crazy things that we will face. Experience tells us that living responsibly in the COVID environment helps reduce the spread. One knows what it’s going to take to get through this, perseverance, a great attitude, and our best effort!
Our counties, states, and nations will prevail over COVID. We will navigate our way and we can choose to do that with a good attitude. One can choose to do the right thing, utilizing our best effort.
Our holidays may not be what we had planned or hoped, but we will persevere. As some of our holiday traditions change this year, it is my hope that families are able to experience unexpected joy amid all the change.
What I find helpful is to concentrate on what I can control within myself, my attitude, and my effort. Even then, I look to Jesus to give me the strength to turn my less-than-desirable attitude into one that I am willing to share with my family and others! I give control to Jesus, pray for solutions, and am open to “out of the box” resolutions. I believe being open-minded will be important this holiday season. The right attitude and effort will help us focus on the reason for the season.
I expect that my children will give their best effort and attitude in the things they do. When they are unhappy with their performance I ask them, “Did you put in your best effort and attitude?” If their answer is yes, then they should feel good about giving their best effort to the task. If the answer is no, they know what to change.
Effort and attitude are very personal and expressed individually. Our own personal efforts and attitudes can change quickly based on numerous factors. We don’t always get what we want and things are not always fair.
I can’t control what others do, but I can control my attitude and effort if I so desire. I have seen people try to control other people, but I have never seen that lead to success. If you continue to give your best effort and have a positive attitude, you will be a success. However, you might find a change in how you define success.
I continually work on my attitude and effort. It takes strong faith to let go of control and trust in Jesus. With your best attitude, effort, prayer, and faith, success will follow.
