Blog #137. Led By Faith

My faith is my first priority under all circumstances.  We are living in a world of change and many unknowns.  COVID-19 has redefined and intensified the unknown. Stretching one to think more carefully about how one lives life.  Rethinking what used to be normal everyday tasks.  Led by faith, but initiated with prayer.

1.  Prayer

As I continue to find strength in prayer, prayer begins to consume my thoughts.  At first, prayer was inserted into my day when I saw a need.  I became addicted to prayer as I continued to see results and opportunities.  Where once I intentionally prayed I now find myself in prayer on an ongoing basis.

I pray for a clear path with signs as to the direction I am meant to follow.  I pray for guidance, continued hope, and strong faith.  Most of all, I pray for the ability to have love in my heart, the ability to forgive, and the ability to be there for those in need.

2.  Decide on a path

Through prayer paths present themselves.  Signs and clues are revealed to provide direction.  Although prayer continues, there is a time to make a decision to move forward along my intended path

This is where things often become difficult because what one wants and what is intended often are very different paths.  Am I able to give up control and what I want in order to walk what I believe to be my intended path?

It is a difficult decision to give up that dream job to follow an unknown path.  When I feel a pit in my stomach as I think about my dream job, I know that it is not for me at this time.  The moment I decline the job, a feeling of peace is felt throughout my body.  I have listened to the signs, and my intended path becomes more clear.

3.  Prepare

As the path becomes more defined it is time to think about what is needed to be successful.  It’s time to prepare, to be ready for the next opportunity.  I have to be patient for the clues and signs that give my path direction.  I have to be open to opportunities that arise.  The opportunities are often unexpected and humbling.  I have found perseverance to be critical and blessings to be abundant.

4.  Trust

After I prepare I trust that I’ve made the right decision for me and my family.  It’s time to give control to God and thank Jesus for the opportunity.

Sometimes I feel like I’ve made the wrong decision, I’ve started walking down the wrong path, or the environment has changed and I need to alter the situation. Prayer continues, signs and clues arise and my path is identified.  The path may lead in a completely different direction or there might be a small tweak. But I’m always prepared to change direction when necessary.

I also know that sometimes I need to hold the course despite the fact that things might not look so great. It is through prayer that I find peace in the path that I am taking.   Through prayer, I am at peace with being patient and persevering through anything to reach my intended goal.

I utilize the power of prayer to find my intended path.  When opportunities arise I am prepared. I trust and give control to God.  I am ready to alter my path when necessary.  I am led by faith.
