It is difficult to keep out of the world of comparison. Around every corner, there’s another opportunity to explore what others are doing. It doesn’t matter how those opportunities arise, the view many of us see is the snapshot on social media. No matter how great or terrible the opportunity, it is the photo that people see.
Viewing all the opportunities for comparison from the perspective of love helps us be happy for everyone’s moments of joy. In between the snapshots, there is a whole story that is not told. The story doesn’t need to be told, but if one starts to compare all the snapshots in time, it can cause a feeling of, “Where are my moments of joy?”
Comparisons start to form and create tension that is not validated. We sometimes forget that the information we see is only what is provided, not the entire day or event. One might have had a difficult day and simply chose to post a moment of joy.
Seeing moment after moment on different platforms of social media can make one question one’s own joy. Using a perspective of love eliminates the opportunity to judge. When one is genuinely happy for the joy of others, comparison is not an issue and peace overtakes your entire being.
Comparison will quickly throw me off track and realign my priorities if I am not careful. What is it that I consider important? How do I stay focused on my priorities?
For me, it is my perspective on how I choose to move through life. I make a choice to be happy for the success of others and stay away from comparing my life to the life of anyone else.
The only way I am able to escape the world of comparison is to focus on love. I choose to view things with compassion and kindness and am happy for the success of others. When I am able to be content with a perspective of love I am able to experience complete inner peace.
