True Potential. Blog #340.

Everyone’s potential is uniquely their own.  We all have different strengths and weaknesses to refine if we are up to the challenge.  If we are open, Jesus will work with us to help us reach our highest potential.

It is important for me to set aside some time to focus on my physical and mental self, but sometimes I forget to think about how others perceive me.  How well am I communicating to others and how well am I received?

It is a challenge, but I work at shutting out all the chaos around me and focusing on refining my true potential.  I don’t worry about how others are performing or how other families live.  Any judgments that I might make would be lacking validity.

I do take time to search within myself to develop the best me.  It took me years to understand that the voice I thought I was using was not always the voice people were hearing.  I began listening to myself when I spoke to others.

My goal is to speak with kindness in all situations.  How the person replies is a key indication of how one is communicating.  I also pray and ask Jesus to make me aware when my communication is lacking or misunderstood.

When I am struggling I don’t always see how I am interacting with others.   But there are other times when I understand how I’m perceived by others and how my voice tone and actions are affecting others. When we can critically evaluate how we treat and are perceived by others, it’s a beautiful step to being able to change or develop better habits for the future.

We all have the ability to treat people with kindness,  compassion, and love.  We don’t all have the same capabilities.  Nor do we all have the same strengths or weaknesses.  But we are all capable of coming from a perspective of love.

To look within ourselves and find our true potential, we have to be able to evaluate how we’re acting presently.  We have to be able to listen to how we speak to others, how we treat others, and how people perceive us.
