What Is It That We Need? Blog #273.

John Lennon’s song, All You Need Is Love, has been playing in my mind this past week.  From podcast to televised church service the common theme has been we are what we believe.

The concept that positive thoughts and actions bring about positive outcomes has long been a topic of discussion among those closest to me.  I see things in terms of the cup 1/2 full and find very little cause to worry.  While others find it very difficult to address all circumstances from a perspective of love and tend to hang on to stress and anxiety.

I have to believe that people don’t want a stress-filled life.  I think it just sounds too good to be true that love and kindness can be that life-altering.  Sometimes I think stress and worry have become a type of security blanket.  A security blanket… gone bad.

I randomly watched a taped episode of Hour of Power with Pastor Bobby Schuller, a televised church service that I enjoy.  The main topic was if you don’t like the direction you are headed, change.  The change was rooted in believing that it is possible.  He spoke about the role of our consciousness and how our friends, the books we read, and the environment we are in all affect how we think.  Are we choosing to focus on the darkness or the light?

Around the same time, I was forwarded a podcast, How To Tickle Yourself, by Duff McDonald.  Dr. Issam Nemeh was the guest, he spoke about science, intentions, and consciousness.  Indicating that intentions toward a subject trigger an energy field that manifests itself in a way that one feels a force, in this case through prayer.  Dr. Nemeh indicated that the future of science is the science of consciousness.  There is nothing in existence that doesn’t have a consciousness behind it.

The conversation led to what it is that we need to strive to be more like Jesus.  As wonderful as both of these things are, you don’t need religion or faith to be close to Jesus.  My faith is true and strong, but it is not necessary.  Nor does it matter what religion.  What matters is your intentions, what matters is how you live your life, and what matters is LOVE.  Love in terms of your actions and intentions.

All we need is love and the ability to set aside our ego.  Love is a powerful tool, not only a feeling.  We all have the opportunity to choose love.
