Some might take it as a bit delusional, but no matter the circumstances I choose the upside. I understand many people have lived through more pain and suffering than I have, but I have yet to find a time when light was absent. Each hiccup gives us an opportunity to become stronger or stressed.
When I tell my kids to look for the light, the positive, the upside, they often reply, “What upside?” Often, it is hard to see the rainbow through the storm, but if one searches for light, I believe one will always find hope.
Prayer is my passageway to hope. Asking Jesus to show me the path to light, to hope, to the upside of the situation. Thanking Jesus for leading me to the positive before I even know or see the upside.
Moving to prayer immediately helps me move away from any negative and leads me to opportunity. I don’t give myself any time to worry or be stressed. It has become part of my routine to be thankful under any circumstance. Without reservation, I know that hope resides in every hiccup. I simply have to be willing to look for the light.
Most of the time the light is easier to see when I take what I want out of the equation. Giving control to Jesus, trusting that his plan is much better than mine. When our plans are altered we don’t always see the upside. When we allow Jesus to direct us our intended path becomes more clear as does the light.
When I feel stressed I know that I have strayed from allowing Jesus to guide my way. I immediately pray and give thanks to Jesus for guiding me to the light. Listening for direction I follow the path presented, living hopeful always looking for the upside.
