Broken. Blog #173.

Are you or have you ever been broken?

I have been broken and daily find myself in a position of thanking Jesus for picking up the pieces and providing hope

Although sometimes I am able to see the true needs of others, the picture we display in public is rarely the whole story.  This past year has opened my eyes to the depth of our brokenness.

I see people of all ages and cultures in various settings going through life with smiles on their faces and emptiness in their souls.  People struggle to know if it is okay to show their true feelings.

At the same time, life is moving fast leaving little time to nurture what is broken.  We are caught between what people want to see and what we feel.

I find myself wondering how many people I have hurt because I have missed the clues of their hidden pain.  I ask God to open my eyes to what I am supposed to see and pray for the correct words and actions.

Prayer combined with giving control to Jesus facilitates my ability to approach situations with kindness and fills me with an abundance of understanding.  It helps me realize that I see only a small portion of what is real.

It is okay to be broken.  The key is finding the medicine for our souls.  For me it is Jesus.  The one that is always with me listening to my prayers.  Once I give up control, without fail I am delivered a feeling of peace.

Experiencing feelings of being broken is not unusual, but how and why we feel broken is unique to each individual.  Only God sees the complete picture.  I remind myself it is my job to be sensitive to the needs of others and treat people how I would like to be treated.

As I start to feel broken I pray for direction and look for signs of hope.  I push away the feelings of being paralyzed and give control to God.

What is it that the world wants us to see?  Perceptions and reality can be very tricky.  The feelings of brokenness disappear as the strength of my faith takes hold through hope and prayer.
