Following Jesus needs no approval.  Many of us are raised to live within the norm, generally attempting to display actions and words that are acceptable in our society.  I tend to live on the periphery, understanding societal norms yet choosing to serve Jesus.

I move forward with my priorities for the day, leaving flexibility in my schedule to serve.  I don’t wait for answers.  I move forward; however, I live in the moment and understand that there’s abundant opportunity to serve throughout my day.

I’m not looking for approval from my friends, family, or others.  So long as I move through my day with inner peace, I know I have approval from Jesus. 

I married a man knowing that society disapproved.  I didn’t require their approval, only that of Jesus. 

I had a career that I very much enjoyed and carefully built, but left to raise my kids and move back near family.  I didn’t want to leave my career, but I had inner peace knowing it was God’s plan.  The decision didn’t need my approval or that of others.  It was what I was intended to do.

I’ve spent my life trusting Jesus and would not change anything.  There were many things I didn’t choose and things I didn’t want to do, but I did them because it was my path. 

Working for Mary Kay cosmetics was something that I never would have chosen, nor did it have my approval.  It is a great company and can be a wonderful opportunity, but for me, it was not something that was in my comfort zone.  It proved to be an important part of my journey, but I don’t know of anyone who approved, except Jesus.

Often it’s not about the task, but the journey.  Focusing on my ability to live life with inner peace, I choose to seek approval only from Jesus.
