How Do I Find Direction? Blog #211.

The first thing I remind myself of is that my direction will become clear to me in God’s time.  I have been very driven all my life to meet or exceed the goals placed on my path.  I also understand that I need to be patient as I experience and learn all that I need to know to carry out God’s plan.

My faith is strong.  I don’t waiver in knowing that Jesus has my back and will see me through all obstacles placed in my path.  I know that I am going to have many things come my way trying to take me off course.  But I believe without a doubt that I serve Jesus and if I slow down, pray, listen, and let go of control I will find my direction in God’s time.

Everything I did in life was quick and efficient.  Part of the learning process for me was to understand that slowing down and clearing one’s head of noise is a necessary step in finding my direction.

For years I turned over every opportunity and each time I hit a roadblock.  These opportunities were things I wanted for myself, but they were not part of my path.  As the opportunities became reality, I would feel sick until I declined and then had instant relief from any discomfort.

My path has been painfully slow.  I know that I have been on my intended path, but I didn’t know how long my life would be in a holding pattern.  It was clear that I needed to slow down and learn to smell the roses.

Sometimes slowing down is finding some quiet time.  Other times one has to learn to slow down their lifestyle.  Either way, it opened my mind to focus on prayer; specifically, prayer asking for direction and guidance.

After prayer, it is time to listen.  I start to become more aware of thoughts that come to my mind.  I see what opportunities present themselves and am open to trying new things.

Finding your direction requires you to let go of control and trust that Jesus will guide you.  Often one has to step out of their comfort zone to find their path.  Slow down, pray, listen, and let go of control to facilitate unlocking your intended direction.
