Prioritizing. Blog #219.

Prioritizing Jesus is something I work on daily.  My faith is my number one priority, but I struggle with tuning out all the noise and focusing on Jesus.  I am a single mom trying to work through each day with a smile, often that alone is a challenge.

All the stress and confusion around me often pull me off track.  How do I refocus on filling my mind with Jesus?

The first thing I do when I face stress and noise is switch my mind to focus on love.  When I make that switch, I am better able to see what is prompting all the craziness.

When humans are at the base of the commotion, empathy begins to emerge as I focus on love and realize two things.  First, I have no idea what the person or people have been through, and second, I have no right to judge.

Daily we are pulled off track by noise, computers, phones, texting, social media, etc., and all of those are a definite challenge.  Love puts all the noise into perspective and allows me to refocus on Jesus.

Today I was working with a computer technician who had trouble focusing on the issue.  He was nice, which was very helpful, but a rather simple issue took over one hour and the issue was not addressed.

Three-quarters of the way into the conversation I felt myself getting frustrated with the communication.  I focused on love, was grateful that the technician was kind and thorough, and made a decision to be patient.  I prayed for the technician.

After changing my perspective to love and praying for the technician, the call ended on a positive note with a solution to a different issue.

Later that day I opened an email from the technician, which contained a possible solution for the original issue.  Thank you, Jesus! Prioritizing Jesus, love, and prayer provides endless opportunities.

All of my interactions and challenges become easier to navigate when I look at the situation with a perspective of love.  My goal is to always be focused on that perspective.  There are moments when I realize I am off track and clearly see the value of love when I refocus my priorities.  I am a work in progress relying on my faith, love, and prayer.
