Be Patient. Blog #226.

When my priorities are straight, I seem to have a much better handle on being patient.  My first priority is my faith, which when held in that position aligns everything in place.  It doesn’t mean that I have everything in control it means that I have given control to Jesus and am willing to walk in faith on the path that presents itself.

What I am not doing is sitting around waiting for something amazing to happen.  I am exploring opportunities that cross my path.  I don’t say no to something because I don’t want to be involved.  I investigate, explore the options, and see what is uncovered.  It takes patience and perseverance to wait for the right opportunity.

Sitting in a “holding pattern” is often uncomfortable.  Particularly when you believe you are ready for the next opportunity.  I have learned to enjoy the “holding pattern” and to be more patient in waiting for my next endeavor.

It has been helpful to remember that love is the essential ingredient when connecting with Jesus.  Love opens your heart and allows us to better see the opportunity in our path.  Looking at a situation with love and kindness opens our eyes to compassion and understanding.  When we fully understand that we don’t know what is going on in other people’s lives it becomes much easier to be patient with others.  When I look at a situation with love judgments disappear.

For me, the most difficult thing regarding being patient is when I understand there are numerous ways I could solve the issue, yet I know to wait on Jesus.  I can see several solutions in front of me and it’s so tempting to take the quick fix.  But I know that if I am patient and wait, the results will be much more significant than if I pursued my own solution.

Time and time again I have to tell myself, wait, be patient, don’t jump the gun!  Don’t try to get to the finish line the fastest way, get to the finish line the intended way.
