Sometimes we need to unclog our drain. There are times when the drain is so clogged we don’t want to face the filthy mess. Too deep to snake out ourselves. A mess we avoided for so long that it is now time to call in the professionals.
If we had addressed our slow drain we would have been fine. But we chose to avoid the issue and now we pay the price of nonfunctioning, clogged drains.
When we avoid our issues in life, they become like clogged drains. At first, the issues are a bit annoying and as they go unaddressed they start to back up and create roadblocks.
Jesus is a part of my everyday life. When I feel the drain starting to clog I immediately pray my way out of the issue. Whenever I question anything my first defense is praying.
As I am praying there are other things that I contemplate. The first is a serious reality check. I make a list on paper or in my head of the positives and negatives regarding the situation. There are those who will say there is nothing good. But most of the time there is a light somewhere among the clouds.
If everything seems dark, I pray my perspective will change. That I will see the light and the glass will be half full. It takes faith to believe before you see results.
Next, I make a decision to change something so that I am able to move forward. Normally that change has something to do with my actions and love. All while I am praying for opportunities to unclog that drain.
When I change my actions to love and pray for direction and opportunity to clear the drain, stress disappears, and peace surfaces. In order to unclog the drain, I need to trust and have faith that I will move forward with renewed strength and purpose.
