What is it that makes us scared to put all of our faith in Jesus?
Some of us are well versed in the Bible, devoted to prayer, faithful in attending worship services, and/or generally live our lives by the “golden rule.” If we are doing some or all of those things, what makes us hesitant to surrender to Jesus? Could it be that we think we have surrendered to Jesus, but in reality are still in control of our daily lives?
I have found that I frequently have to surrender and give up control. I surrender and shortly after I realize I am controlling my life again. I step back and give my life to Jesus. I am continuously asking myself if I am leading my life or if am I allowing Jesus to take control.
Am I giving my worries to God or am I suffering through all the pain and stress? Why should I be stressing myself out when God will take my worries and provide solutions? I simply need to surrender to Jesus and be open to the unique ways prayers are answered. I need to be patient, have love in my heart, and wait on the Lord for direction. I then have to be willing to walk down my intended path. I have to let go of what I think is right for me and have the faith to follow the path that is intended.
It is simple to say the words I surrender to you Jesus, I am your servant. But it’s not easy to follow that simple path. We have to have faith prior to seeing the results. We have to believe with all of our hearts and have love in her heart knowing that Jesus is there for all of us who so desire.
I have walked down the wrong path many times. Warning signals help guide me back. It might be a pit in my stomach, a sense of uncertainty, or obstacles that prevent me from moving forward. I quickly change course and pray for direction. I know that I am on my intended path when I feel a rush through my body or have a sense of peace.
We learn as we move through difficult times. Sometimes we feel like we are being punished or personally attacked. The following are concerns that I hear. How can Jesus love me with all the problems in my life? Why should I believe Jesus loves me when all these bad things are happening? I am praying and none of my prayers are being answered.
Our prayers may not be answered in the manner we desire or under the timeline we present. Faith requires us to believe before we see results. It means we allow ourselves to trust and believe that we will be guided through the tough times. Faith brings hope for great things in our future.
Sometimes we have to be willing to walk a path that is different from what we dreamed or imagined. Faith, love, and hope guide us through tough times and lead us to times of prosperity.
