Despite living in a very broken world, there are ways in which we can live amongst the brokenness with joy and happiness. This month’s Path To Faith call highlighted some simple but not necessarily easy ways to move toward the light.
I believe we all have a purpose, and I believe even in dark times there is light. We just need to know where to find it. These are not my original thoughts, but are things I believe are helpful to know for our journey.
How do we surrender?
Surrendering to Jesus is a stillness of the mind and a love of God; it’s activated in our lives through loving your neighbor and loving Jesus. Being prayerful and having good intentions is beautiful, but with no action, it will not materialize.
In addition to those things, I find my greatest peace when I have surrendered complete control to Jesus. Not sometimes, but always, no matter the consequences, trust Jesus with no doubt.
Why does God let us suffer?
God loves us despite being sinners. The fall of Adam and Eve opened the door for Jesus to enter and become part of this world. Mary materialized Jesus. Both these women knew they would suffer. It was worth opening the door for Jesus to come and bring forgiveness for our sins. Think about the suffering that the Lord experienced.
Why did he have to become fully human?
Jesus had to be fully human and therefore endure suffering, occupying the same space as those in the fallen land. Fighting against the powers and principalities of evil.
What is our purpose?
We all have a predetermined purpose, which is revealed when we become close to Jesus. Nothing in life will stop us from fulfilling our purpose. The Lord will not let us die until our purpose is fulfilled. Nothing will impede our journey.
Good angels cannot redeem the world; they can only guide us humans. It is humans, living with love and compassion for others, that will outnumber the fallen angels. Humans, who are believers and activate that daily as we live, will one day open the door for Jesus. Only God knows when that day will arrive.
Forgiveness and Prayer
Along with love is forgiveness and prayer. For those who are toxic, we isolate ourselves from them, but forgive and pray for them. Forgiveness is beautiful, but without prayer, it is incomplete.
Humans are important to God. We are necessary to combat the fallen angels; the only cure is people who believe. To weaken the power of evil, we must reach a certain number of believers.
Love your neighbor and Jesus, move through your suffering trusting Jesus, and forgive, followed by prayer for those you are forgiving, activating joy among the brokenness.
