New Beginning. Blog #198.

Are you ready for a new beginning?

I smiled to myself as I started to type this blog.  Why?  Because I was walking in the rain on a cool fall day thinking about new beginnings.  “New Beginning” seems like a great title for a springtime blog, but for now, I will accept that this is the perfect time to blog about new beginnings.

Do we even know what we are searching for when we talk about looking for a new beginning?  How do we know where to start or how to proceed to find our next steps?  What are the necessary ingredients for a new beginning?

New beginnings often show us new ways of thinking, acting, and moving forward.  They also open the way to forgiveness

For me, a new beginning starts with prayer.  I open up by inviting in the Holy Spirit and from there I ask what it is Jesus asks of me.  I ask for opportunities to present themselves so that I clearly understand my path.  I pray for assistance when I veer off course.

My prayers are rather open-ended so I don’t limit the possibilities to my simple thinking.  I would not be where I am today if I had directed my path.  I look to Jesus to guide me and I am open to redirecting my path when opportunities arise.

There are times when I wish answers would be more clear or arrive more quickly.  I then remind myself not to limit my thinking and allow faith to be my guide.

Faith and love are strong components of a new beginning.  Having love in your heart for others makes it easier to foster new opportunities and friendships.   Opening my heart to love has brought a new perspective to some otherwise toxic situations.

Looking through a lens of love allows me to recognize that I don’t know what other people around me are dealing with each day.  Thinking in terms of love and compassion makes it easier for me to approach forgiveness.

It is difficult to have a successful new beginning if we are unable to forgive.  Sometimes we don’t even realize the strength of the walls we build.  Together, prayer, faith, and love help prepare our hearts for forgiveness.  I find it important to forgive myself, to forgive others, and to ask for forgiveness from Jesus.

As I approach new beginnings, I rely on prayer to guide me, love and faith to sustain me, and forgiveness to allow me to live with internal peace.
