It is no secret that my faith is my first priority, for me, it is the prize. The moment I lose sight of what is most important to me, my life moves off track.
When my priorities are in line, my mindset is on target, and my life has a purpose. I find myself in a state of peace despite what is going on around me. My faith does not keep me from conflict or suffering, but it allows me to weather all the storms.
My kids know that my faith is first. My family is important to me, but faith is the glue that keeps us together. Faith keeps me grateful, and thankful and redirects me to the right state of mind.
For me, my faith puts me in the right mindset and directs me away from being judgmental. Stress, worry, and anger are much easier to manage when my faith is put first and my priority is Jesus.
I start with a positive perspective which sets the tone for my day. When I wake up in the morning I like to focus on Psalm 118:24, “This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Then I inquire through prayer, “What is it that you ask of me?” The answers rarely are instant, but throughout the day I am guided to my intended path. I give thanks to Jesus and continue to pray.
When things get tough, I thank Jesus for guiding me to a solution before one even exists. Being thankful and grateful puts me in the mindset of love and quickly dissolves any judgmental thoughts.
Through the teachings of Jesus, we have guidelines of right and wrong. When I ask myself the question, What might Jesus do? It helps me quickly realign my perspective and focus on a mindset of love.
When life is not going well for me I look at my state of mind. Holding on to negative thoughts is not what love is about. I center my prayers on being thankful and grateful, as I focus on loving others more than I love myself. I keep my eye on the prize with faith being my first priority.
