Lens Of Love. Blog #454.

Having a lens of love seems so simple.  However, growing up, I cultivated kindness more than love.  Everyone was welcome at our house and gatherings, but my definition of love was usually reserved for family and friends.  My lens was kind, but needed to be redefined.

How do we truly love all people when so many unkind things are done in this world?

I believe it’s about seeing Jesus in each one of us. Not only seeing past the mistakes, but seeing the potential. It’s about allowing ourselves to open our eyes and have compassion for each individual.  Creating an opportunity for love, making the effort to push ourselves to understand that we are all equals in the eyes of Jesus.

I’m not better than someone else because of my job, money, friends, or fame.  I’m different, but I’m not better or worse. I’m simply me.

I challenged myself to love others equally.  Quite frankly, I wasn’t sure that was possible.  But it is.  I have learned or better worded, I’ve taught myself to see through eyes of love.  Looking with compassion and extending kindness.  I was a good person before I trained myself to love others.  But I didn’t have full unconditional love before I purposefully taught myself to think in those terms.  Through prayer, I asked Jesus to help me see things through a lens of love.

In a matter of a few weeks, I was able to train myself to look at everything with love.  It started as simple repetition, moved to action, and resulted in redefining love.

As one lives with a perspective of love, past boundaries become blurry.  Although I have unexpected hiccups, as time passes, there become fewer of those moments.

Seeing things in terms of love brings inner peace.  I thrive on inner peace and keeping the stability and strength of Jesus inside me.  If my peace is absent, I know I’m off path.  I focus on prayer and realign with Jesus.  Always refocusing through a lens of love.
