I definitely have love in my heart for all, but I work at loving equally, without reservation. Loving everyone, family, friends, and strangers alike, is something that I continually strive to attain.
All we need… is a decision to love.
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela
Having compassion towards others, displaying acts of kindness to those around us, choosing to stand up for what is right, and a willingness to change can all be signs of love. All of these are examples of how we can choose to love. One of the best ways to teach others how to love is to be a good example and live displaying love throughout one’s daily routine.
I recently attended a healing service facilitated by Dr. Issam Nemeh (Path To Faith). During his opening remarks, he reminded all in attendance of the importance of love. In the book, Miracles Every Day, Dr. Nemeh is quoted, “…the gates to heaven are unlocked with love – love for God and love of others.” (p.214). Dr. Nemeh’s love for everyone is equal and when it comes to service he belongs to everyone (p. 210). He lives his life as a servant of God and believes in the power of love.
When I entered Dr. Nemeh’s office for the first time I saw paintings of Padre Pio. For me, it brought back memories of my late husband’s admiration and love for Padre Pio’s life work. “Love is the first ingredient in the relief of suffering.” St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina. Love is an important ingredient of life and important to ward off evil.
Sometimes it takes a change in attitude to see the good. I choose to believe in goodness, to stay positive, and to love people.
It also requires discipline not to judge others. When I find myself thinking judgmental thoughts, I quickly redirect my thinking to love and kindness. Although I know that it is not for me to judge others, I need to remind myself often.
I choose to live a life full of love. I challenge us all to go out in the world and spread love. “Small things done with great love will change the world.” Mother Teresa
