I thought that once the inner peace of Jesus was felt throughout the body it would be enough to encourage more reliance on the Lord. For some that might be true, but others still convince themselves that it was a one-time experience.
It is difficult to describe the feeling of inner peace. For me, it is a rush throughout my body and an immediate feeling of reassurance. Sometimes it is a quick moment of confirmation, other times it is a longer feeling of stress being lifted. There are times when I will shake someone’s hand and immediately feel the inner peace from their hand move through my arm.
I have seen the Lord take control and create complete peace within people followed by a time of what seems like an uncontrollable washing of emotions. Some experience tears of relief and a lifting of the stress throughout their body. Those moments are normally very unexpected and very moving. In those moments I see people experience deep peace and cleansing of the soul.
Often there are feelings of both amazement and disbelief. Amazement regarding the depth of feelings and comfort and in the power of God. Disbelief in feeling worthy of this complete inner peace. Knowing that God is at work yet still having difficulty accepting the gift.
Having love in your heart and surrendering to Jesus opens the door to peace. The feeling of peace is there for the asking. It comes free of charge and is priceless.
That feeling of confirmation or peace indicates that I am moving along the right path and tells me that God is in control.
Once the feeling of peace is experienced, it is perplexing to me that some choose to believe that it is a one-time cleansing. Everyone is worthy and no one will be ignored so long as you have faith, love, and a willingness to be led by Jesus. Take control, take my worries, thank you, Jesus!
