Are you currently living a faith-filled life yet struggling to experience complete peace? The struggle is real. There are things I rely on each day to help me focus on my faith. Tools that help me stay on track living a life of internal peace.
First I make reading the Bible a priority daily. Second, I pray throughout my day. Third, I remind myself to be thankful, and grateful and live with love. Fourth, I make sure I am listening. Fifth, when possible I serve others. And sixth, I trust and give control to Jesus.
In the past, reading and gaining knowledge through the Bible have not been my strength. Not because I didn’t believe in the importance of the content, but because at times it was just plain difficult for me to understand.
As I began to read the Bible I realized that it would have been very helpful to have had deeper knowledge and understanding earlier in my life. The opportunity was provided to me, but I lost interest because it was too difficult to comprehend. Daily as I read I find myself thinking about my past and how I would have benefited from the wisdom I gained from each lesson. I love how my daily reading brings me peace and helps me focus.
Unlike reading the Bible, being prayerful came easy to me. My prayers have always been simple. As a child, I relied on Jesus even before I had much understanding. My faith has been strong most of my life. I have always trusted Jesus.
In recent years my prayer life has strengthened. My prayers are still simple, but now I am able to pray my way through each day. When I am struggling and when I am thankful prayer brings me peace.
Having a mindset of being thankful and grateful helps me through all my struggles. I thank Jesus as I pray because I have faith that things will work out as planned. Being grateful helps me focus on love. When my heart is full of love toward others, internal peace is abundant.
When I am struggling I have to remember to listen. I pray, am thankful, and then I listen for direction. The answers don’t always come immediately. I patiently wait and listen knowing my prayer will be answered in God’s time.
Being thankful and grateful always seems to open up opportunities for serving others. There are countless ways to have a serving heart. All of us serve in different ways. I am happiest and at peace when I am serving Jesus.
So simple, trust in Jesus. Yet for so many of us, the struggle is real. Our faith is strong, but something holds us back from total surrender. Letting go of control and surrendering to Jesus has brought me to complete internal peace.
I know immediately when I am taking over control. Life becomes stressful, my prayers become about me, and gratitude fades. I quickly re-surrender to Jesus and regain my inner peace.
