We make decisions constantly throughout our day. How do we navigate those decisions? Have we set ourselves up to succeed in our daily decision-making?
I spent some time teaching myself to prioritize being thankful, prayerful, and living with a perspective of love and compassion. All of these things help prepare me to make better decisions.
Being thankful allows me to approach decision-making with a positive perspective. Love opens the door for compassion and brings depth to my understanding. Prayer centers me and guides my decision-making process.
One of the reasons I made a decision to learn how to pray through my day is that it takes me one step closer to including Jesus in each decision I make throughout the day. When I find myself problem-solving without prayer, I grow concerned because I have bypassed an important step in my process. When there is a problem with one of my decisions, it quickly becomes obvious to me that I have left out Jesus.
Daily, I pray that I carry Jesus with me in prayer and that he speaks through me and guides me. When I include him, the solution to the problem is clear and often quickly resolved.
Jesus is in control when my daily decisions are handled smoothly and easily. I step aside and listen for opportunities and solutions. When things start to become complicated, it is often because I have taken back control.
I have days where I am thankful, prayerful, and living with love one minute, and suddenly I am struggling with a decision. Inevitably, I have left out Jesus. The moment I realize the problem, I move to prayer and give control back to Jesus.
Not all problems are solved quickly. But my daily problem-solving is taken to another level when I pray through my problems. I include Jesus in my life, am thankful, and prayerful, intending to create an environment of love.
