Purposeful Light. Blog #445.

My life changed significantly when I began intentionally seeking purposeful light.  It started with fully understanding the meaning of love.

Redefining love to look beyond the love of family, friends, and romantic love to an all-encompassing love for others.  Loving my neighbors more than myself.  I needed to put action to the definition.

Being thankful is where I started.  Training myself to be grateful for everything I encountered throughout my day.  No matter the outward appearance, I silently found something to be thankful for every moment.  The first few days, I had to concentrate on being grateful.  Midweek, it began to be routine.  I started to feel thankful without any intentional prompting.

The next hurdle was learning to pray my way through the day, not exclusively at prayer time.  Everywhere I went and everything I saw, I intentionally prayed.  Yes, it was programmed at first, but very quickly became a learned response and something I carry with me throughout my day.  Praying for the things around me, inviting in the Holy Spirit, and including Jesus became the norm.

Next I needed to live with love.  Just as with being thankful and prayerful, I purposefully learned to change love from a feeling to an action.  I continually reminded myself that I was to live life with love.  By day three, I found myself moving through problems with more compassion and understanding.

When I am living with love, inner peace is present.  Always striving to be closer to Jesus, Path to Faith talks about seeing Jesus in everything and everyone.  I have started to apply this and, thus far, can say that seeing the love of Jesus in everything gives me inner strength and peace.

How does that make a difference?

When we see Jesus in everything, we create purposeful light.
