Happiness is a gift that I work hard to maintain daily. I have always been willing to take the risk of allowing myself to be happy for all that I have been given. I resist thinking about what I don’t have or what I am missing in my life. I concentrate on what I do have and am grateful to God for those blessings.
An important lesson learned in network marketing is to concentrate on those that are present and active. Don’t spend time worrying why people did not show up or choose to participate, but mentor, train, and encourage those who are present and working. I feel the same about happiness. I work on fostering all the things that make me happy and leave my worries to God.
If I am in a situation where I am unhappy, I first pray. I pray for an opportunity to be able to change the situation or to be able to see the good in the situation. I have always been able to find something that is positive. I can’t say that I have always loved what I have done as a career, but I have always been able to find happiness in the whole package. I like the people, the pay, the benefits, the hours, the company, etc. When I find something that makes me happy within the situation, that happiness seems to grow in other areas as well.
I think happiness is different for everyone. For some, a daily drink of water will bring happiness. Yet for others, all basic needs may be met and happiness is missing. I see people struggle with allowing themselves to be happy. It is difficult to let go of control and encourage happiness, particularly if the situation is not what was hoped or imagined.
It is great to have dreams, but it’s difficult to continue to be happy if one doesn’t take steps towards those dreams. Sometimes we see others fulfilling our dreams before we ourselves have the opportunity to make the dream a reality. None of that really matters, what does matter is that one continually sees accomplishment within oneself allowing feelings of happiness.
I have trained myself to see and allow happiness. It’s not something where I wake up and I’m instantly happy every single day. But every day I am grateful for being able to see the good in things. I don’t dwell on those things that are negative. I try to figure out how to change them or how to move forward.
When I am paralyzed and cannot see happiness, I pray for help in focusing on the good in my life and the joy around me. For many of us focusing on the good is very difficult. Daily I see the inability of people to recognize their accomplishments; depriving themselves of that happiness.
It is difficult to be happy when comparing ourselves to others. Everybody’s level of happiness is different and I believe one has to find their own happiness. As one can find joy in small personal accomplishments, self-confidence, and happiness begin to grow.
It is my faith that guides my happiness. I have many dreams that have not yet been accomplished. Sometimes those dreams get delayed, sometimes they are adjusted, and sometimes my dream keeps me on track and moves me forward. It is my mission every day to look for the good and to do something about the bad. I choose to be happy because I don’t like the alternative. I choose happiness.
