Who Is First? Blog #223.

I can’t imagine what life would be like if I didn’t put my faith first.  Although I have lived my life relying on Jesus, I didn’t always know that my faith was my first priority.

I went through my first 40 years of life thinking that my family came first but living my life based on faith.  If anyone asked me my priority in life I would have said, “My family.”

Although my family is very important to me, it never has been my first priority.  I have always put my faith first, I just didn’t know my true priorities until I spent time working with Mary Kay Cosmetics.

The faith-filled leadership of the company clearly defined the order of my priorities.   I always counted on my faith to lead me I just didn’t see a need to verbally prioritize it as number one.

My faith was my guide, but I didn’t give Jesus the credit for being first in my life.  That was not intentional; it was an oversight.  I believe Mary Kay Cosmetics was put on my path to define my true priorities.

I continually gave thanks to Jesus in my mind, but I never thought about my faith being my first priority.  When something goes wrong, I pray and ask Jesus for guidance.  When something goes right, I give thanks to Jesus.  When things are uncertain, I trust in Jesus.  My faith is unquestionably my first priority.

I didn’t need someone to reorder what was important to me, I just needed to be shown my true priorities.  I now recognize what is important to me and am better able to focus on my priorities.

Acknowledging that faith is first in my life has allowed all my other priorities to fall into place.
