Doubt. Blog #61.

Sometimes doubt prepares us for what is ahead, sometimes it produces fear, and sometimes it offers an opportunity to change direction.  Have you ever experienced feeling apprehensive about something you are about to do or say?  It is that feeling of doubt that sends out a warning signal, almost like an SOS, giving one an opportunity to stay on course or change direction. Preparing us for what is ahead.  As uncertainty sets in so do the feelings of discomfort.  What am I getting myself into?  Suddenly a feeling of panic and the question, am I doing the right thing?  That…

Managing Expectations. Blog #57.

We are quickly approaching a day that for many people is filled with expectations.  Some of our expectations are realistic and some are not so realistic.  Although I have high expectations for myself, I work hard at not forcing those expectations on others.  It is not that I set the bar low for others; but when I don’t have preconceived expectations, I find myself grateful and able to enjoy the moment. Clearly, there are commitments, job requirements, etc, where a level of expectation is necessary.  However, I am writing about daily preconceived expectations.    My expectations of my husband were…

Actions Speak. Blog #55.

Our actions immediately give first impressions to all those around us.   Recently after a soccer game, I saw a coach walk off the field over to a group of parents. Before he spoke to the group he looked around four times making sure nobody was around to overhear what he was about to say.  The look on his face made him guilty before he even opened his mouth.  He was giddy with excitement over what he was about to tell the parents.  It was unfortunate for him that he didn’t know one of the club’s major supporters was…

Focus On What Matters. Blog #52.

I have lived my life focusing on what matters, my faith, my family, and my career, but it was not until I worked as a direct marketing consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics that I fully understood the importance of putting faith first, family second, and career third.  Mary Kay Ash lived her life focusing on these priorities; never forcing her beliefs on others. Faith Matters: Although my faith has always been a strong component of my life, I have not always consciously made it my first priority.  When I focus on my faith being my first priority, all other things…

Hope. Blog #50.

Some people don’t believe in hope or have given up on hope, but for me, my whole life is centered around hope.  I can’t imagine my life without hope.  I count on hope.  I believe in hope.  I thank God for hope.   I will admit that I do anticipate that something good will come out of my struggles.  Maya Angelou often referred to a song with the lyrics, When it looked like the sun wasn’t gonna shine anymore, God put a rainbow in the clouds.  Sometimes it takes time to discover the rainbow, but every cloud has…

Fighting Fear. Blog #35.

When you work in direct or network marketing a topic of conversation often discussed is fear.  Walking through your fear.  Not holding back waiting for something else, but going after whatever it is that is making you nervous or apprehensive. It is important to understand that fear changes our behavior.  Often fear takes over and prevents us from taking the next step in our lives.  In some cases, fear is welcomed and healthy and in other cases, it holds us back.  Keeping our fears in perspective is important.  A healthy amount of fear prevents us from doing some not-so…

Staying Focused. Blog #34.

As a parent, teacher, coach, friend, etc., staying focused and alert to the things around me is something I work on daily.   When I find myself mentally wandering from my present situation I quickly evaluate two things.  First, is it my responsibility to be mentally present?  Second, do I want to be mentally present?  Both of those questions quickly direct me back on course as to how I am going to respond to losing my focus.  A quick prayer then helps me follow my intended path.  Some time ago I remember asking my daughter how was practice and this was…

Being Intentional. Blog #33.

I have observed many examples of people dealing with their “stuff” productively and intentionally.  We all have “stuff.”  Numerous people might have the same issue at hand, but each individual is unique.  Differences might include age, timing, other complications or circumstances, etc.  It is how we deal with our “stuff” that will make a difference in the long run.  Being intentional regarding how you deal with your “stuff” is very powerful.    For me, being intentional is imperative.  I focus on the present and the future.  Seldom do I allow myself time to dwell on the past.  Although thinking back on…

Finding the Good in the Situation, Perspective. Blog #25

Sometimes all we need is a change in our perspective.  Changing one’s perspective is not easy, but it is a choice that you are able to make.  You can choose to focus on all the things that went wrong or you can choose to focus on what is good.  Sometimes finding what is good takes time, sometimes it takes creativity, other times it takes perseverance.  The key for me is to FOCUS on the positive, the good.  That is often very difficult; but if I don’t look for the good, I often find myself drowning in negativity…

Miracle #6 – Marriage and Children My marriage to my husband was truly a gift from God.  It was as though I could feel people thinking, “How is it that they work so well together?”  My answer is a match made in heaven. I knew all my life that I wanted to be a mother.  I knew that for me raising children was a priority in life.  I also knew that I wanted to be at home with…
